Video Mode & Trigger Outputs

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DLPC350

Hi guys, Looking to display and report high fidelity (over both patio and temporal dimensions) images with the 4500

1) I'm wondering if there's any way the trigger outputs would work with video mode, or if it just a pattern sequencing shift that they trigger. We need to be able to display "movies" but I think they'll necessarily be larger than the internal flash storage of pattern sequencing allows, so we've been experimenting with Cogent Graphics software to program our movies in. We also need to be able to accurately (to a ms) know when a frame shift occurs, which is why the trigger outputs were an attractive option.

2)What's the best way to use the pattern sequencing mode to display a completely black image?  we want no LEDs flashing, no trigger output. Every time we try to load a black 24-bit BMP the green, blue, and red LED still flash, just much dimmer, so the output trigger still registers. Is there a good way to have the projector be off in between other frames, for example, in a white-black repeating pattern?

Thanks for any help,

Kellen

  • Hi Kellen,

    Thanks for posting.

    1) Yes, you can having triggering in the video streaming modes. Please see additional details for trigger mode 0 in the DLPC350 programmer's guide (www.ti.com/.../dlpu010)
    2) An option would be in pattern sequence mode to extend the period time past the duration of the pattern exposure time. The difference would be be dark time with the LEDs disabled.

    Thanks,
    Clinton
