How to use the DLP LightCrafterDisplay 2010 PCB board (DLPDLCR2010EVM-PCB) with a DLP 2010 NIR.

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DLP2010, DLP2010NIR, DLPC3435, DLPC150

Hi,

I want to set up an optical pattern generator at NIR wavelengths.

Thus, I want to use the DLP LightCrafter Display 2010 PCB board with a DLP 2010 NIR (where to purchase the Flex cable connector?).

As an alternative approach, I would like to replace the DLP2010 in the optical engine of the DLP LightCrafter Display 2010 EVM.

Is it possible to change the DMD from DLP 2010 to DLP 201 NIR?

Has anyone done this before?

Has anyone expirience in the use of the LightCrafter Display EVM with the NIR DMD chip?

Any advise helps.

Thanks, Martin

  • Hello Martin,

    Thank you for your interest.

In general you can use the DLP2010NIR DMD with the DLP LightCrafter Display 2010 board. The connection/ pin out of the DMD is the same.

Please note that the DLPC3435 controller and software is meant for Video/ Display applications.

The software is not developed for NIR applications. NIR applications can be supported with the DLPC150 controller which is different from the DLPC3435 controller which we have on the DLP LightCrafter Display 2010 board.

I would recommend using the DLPC150 controller for NIR applications and the DLPC3435 for Video/Display applications.

The flex cable connector to the DMD can be bought from Digikey under following link.

Please let me know if you have any further questions.

    Best regards,

  • Hi Nadine,

I am also interested in in using the 2010 NIR with a Light Crafters Display 2010. Your message above seems to imply that the parts can be easily swapped out - are they in sockets or how can this be done?

Also, do you know if it is possible to swap out the light source for an IR light source?

    thanks,

    Clarence
  • Hello Clarence,

Both DMDs have the same connector on the back of the DMD. Please note that the DLP2010 is only supporting a illumination wavelength between 400 and 700nm so you can not use are IR light source with the DLP2010 DMD.

The DLP2010NIR supports wavelength between 700nm and 2500nm and is therefore meant for IR light sources. I think it would be hard to swap out the LEDs on the optical engine they are probably glued in.

Please let me know if you have any further questions.

    Best regards,
    Nadine

  • Hello Nadine
can the dlp2010 be controlled by the DLPC150? is the difference between the two dmds is the window?
  • Hello User,

Yes you can control the DLP2010 DMD with the DLPC150. The DLP2010 and the DLP2010NIR defer in the supported wavelength as mentioned in the above conversations due to a different window.

    Best regards,

    Nadine
