CPU compatibility Linux ARM Development system

Since our NIRscan Software SDK is supported on a Ubuntu 12.04 development host; you could adhere to the system requirements for Ubuntu. help.ubuntu.com/.../SystemRequirements

I have installed Ubuntu, 64 bit, most recent stable release on i5 laptop, 3.8 gigabyte free memory.

Installation SDK software (.run) script is located in Download folder. The script appears to execute but instantly returns to terminal prompt with no apparent action taken.

No errors and no message at all after execution of the installation script. Have used Super User also with no help.

Any suggestions?

Is it Ubuntu 12.04? We have tried it only on Ubuntu 12.04.

It is rev. 14...., 12.04 has an end of life date in early 2017. Is there a utility to edit and or debug a run file, something like a step function for debug?

If there an alternative linux that is maintained to more current releases?

I have to return the computer to the shop to revert to earlier release as I am not certain how to revert to older release myself.

I am sorry but the Sitara Linux SDK version 6.00.00 is  built and verified on Ubuntu 10.04 and Ubuntu 12.04 only. The NIRscan software package was built for Sitara SDK version 6.00.00 and no newer version of Linux support has been added.
