Junction Temperature of DLPC350

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DLPC350, DLPC150

Hello ALC team,

I just would like to know the thermal specification of DLPC350.

It is written in the page 12 of datasheet that the max of junction temperature, Tj max, is 85 C. (Recommended operating condition)

It looks this value is lower than other DLP controller devices.

For example, in the case of DLPC150, Tj max is not specified but Ta (Ambient temperature) max is 85C at recommended operating condition.

In the case of DLPC343x, Tj max is 105C.

So, we would like to confirm whether DLPC350 Tj max is really 85C or not.

Please let me double check this specification, just in case.

Thank you very much for your comment.

Best Regards,

Nobu Arai

  • I am sorry again.

Please let me add the question about the junction temperature.

In the page 26 of DLPC350 Datasheet, dlps029c.pdf, there are following sentences. But I do not understand this explanation. I would like you to explain more detailed about this. What is the meaning of fast process devices and normal process devices?

There is also a description of 105C junction temperature below but according to the recommended operating condition, it is written 85C in 6.3 Recommended Operating Condition. We would like to know what is the actual junction temperature.

    *****
Normal mode refers to operation during full functionality, active product operation. Typical values correspond to
power dissipated on nominal process devices operating at nominal voltage and 70°C junction temperature
(approximately 25°C ambient) displaying typical video-graphics content from a high frequency source. Maximum
values correspond to power dissipated on fast process devices operating at high voltage and 105°C junction
temperature (approximately 55°C ambient) displaying typical video-graphics content from a high-frequency
source. The increased power dissipation observed on fast process devices operated at maximum recommended
temperatures is primarily a result of increased leakage current. Maximum power values are estimates and may
not reflect the actual final power consumption of the device.
