Interesting Software for Discovery 1100 -

We would like to donate our Discovery Kit 1100 DLP to a high school STEAM program, but do not have any USB software which controls the unit.  Our work used the direct interface.

Is there any archive of the original USB software or newer programs which would enable them to run it on Windows 7, Linux, or Windows 10 computers?

Thank you.

Dennis

  • Hi Dennis,

The DLP expert on the software you are looking for is currently on travel and cannot get to your question. However, all software for Discovery kits is distributed through suppliers, so I would encourage you to reach out to the supplier that sold you your Discovery 1100 kit to find the answer to your question.

    Best regards,
    Trevor
  • Hi Trevor,

To the best of my knowledge and recollection, the supplier was merged with TI - this is a 10 year old (plus) board, which like my early DLP projectors is still working.  TI still has the manual online, so you must have the simple USB interface software on some server.  This is going to disappoint the kids at TAG.

  • Dear Dennis,

I am working for ViALUX GmbH, a company that is distributing DLP Discovery solutions for more than 10 years now.

In the past, when purchasing a DMD Discovery Stareter Kit, one got access to a private area on TI website called "Knowledge Base". It contained documents and software regarding the DMD Discovery 1100 chip set and starter kit.

The files are still present, but now they are stored in the mySecureSoftware area of ti.com.

I would suggest you to find your old Knowledge Base login and try to enter mySecureSoftware.

@Trevor: I guess that I am not entitled to send him files directly, but probably a Texas Instruments employee could do so...?

    Best Regards

    Frank

  • Hi Dennis,

I sent you an E2E friend request, accept this and send me a private message so I know it went through and I can send you a form to get access to the secure server.

    Frank,
Thanks! I appreciate the help and input!

    Best regards,
    Trevor
  • Dear Frank,

Thanks a lot for the info ...
We would look forward to working with Vialux on our European projects.
I would enjoy receiving your contact info to dms@s5dg.com

    Best regards,

    Dennis
  • Dennis,

Trevor is already working with you on this. I will work with him to get the software to you or a pathway to it. However, I must inform you that I will be very surprised if it will work with anything past Windows XP 32 bit.

  • Fizix,

Thanks... We still have a XP machine here, but I think it ran in legacy mode on in Vista or even Win 7.

I haven't looked closely but if you have source we can kludge something in an hour or so.

We submitted a grant for five new boards for the SMART program at Andover.

    Best,

    Dennis
