Hello,

Can you confirm me that the FOV of the LightCrafter 4710 has a FOV of 80°,

Do you think it's possible to increase it just by changing the optic?

Last question, Is that possible to use the LightCrafter to project directly on the eye (retinal) for prototype?

Hello Marc,

Are you looking for an optical engine with a field of view of 80 degree or have you measured the field of view of the EVM ?

Are you interested in the diagonal FOV or horizontal FOV ?

The FOV can only be increased changing the projection lens with a lens which is designed for a larger FOV.

The current optical engine is not designed for projecting an image directly into your eye. To be able achieve that you have to replace the projection lens with lens designed for near-eye applications. Furthermore the current has to be reduced to avoid any eye damage.

I am interested by an horizontal 80° FOV,
In the document of the DLP4710FQL- DLP® 0.47 1080p DMD is annouced an FOV of 80° whats does that means? without lens?
Do you propose a pico-projector already designed for eyes projections?

I measured the FOV on our DLP LightCrafter Display 4710 EVM and get approximately 55 degree. Can you please let me know what document you are referring too ?

Yes, you can not use the current DLP LightCrafter 4710 engine without changing the projection lens. Currently I am also not aware of any optical engine manufacture who has an optical engine available for the DLP4710 DMD and for near-eye applications.

Hello Mark,

Ok thank you. The field of view listed in this document is the maximum FOV with a ideal optical engine design for near eye applications.

This means it is possible to achieve a FOV higher then 80 degrees but the engine we are using on the DLP LightCrafter 4710 EVM doesn't achieve this number and is not optimized for it.

Hello Marc,

If you would like to get familiar with our DLP chipset and see how the DLP Technology works I would recommend our DLP LightCrafter Display 4710 EVM. This EVM doesn't include an engine for near-eye applications.

As mentioned earlier already we are currently not aware of an optical engine for near-eye applications with the DLP4710 DMD.

But I didn't found any documentation about it, can you please say which component is it,

Hello Marc,

The IT6801 is a HDMI receiver chip. It takes the HDMI input and outputs to our parallel bus.
