Will a DLPC900 show up as a monitor when connecting through HDMI?

I believe the only way to stream dynamic images to the DLPC900 controller is in video pattern mode via the HDMI or displayport. I was hoping to use SDL (Simple DirectMedia Layer) to stream patterns to it, but I need the device to show up as a monitor when plugged in through HDMI. Does the controller show up as a monitor when plugged in via HDMI? I'm under a time crunch so if anybody can answer this ASAP I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks.
