Bitmap file upload process involves compression?

Hi,

I am a user of DLP lightcrafter 4500 EVM. While uploading bitmap images on the board using GUI, I am able to upload about a set of 60 images of bitmap images, each of which takes up 3MB (24bit). However, another set of 60 images are not possible to be uploaded at all. At the most, 15 images. It is what it is, but I want to know the answer of the difference.

The former set of images has a simple sinusoidal modulation over the plane, so one row of array can represent the whole, while the latter set of images was created compensating loca beam field inhomogeneity.

Would you please let me know?

Thanks,

Bryan

  • Bryan,
Yes the images are compressed using RLE compression scheme, so sinusoidal kind of patterns the compression is better, in your case the images you are using may not be getting compressed, so 15images itself exceeding the available flash storage of ~30MB (16MB x 2 flash on the EVM), 2MB is meant for controller firmware code.
