What the difference between ALP-4.3 and DLP LightCrafter 9000 for DLP9000X?

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: ALP, DLP9000X, DLP9000

Hello everyone,

I want to buy DLP9000X kit, include main board and software controller for fast data transfer. We want control DMD and cameral simultaneously with fast speed. I checked some information, and found ViALUX GmbH company develop ALP -4.3 for programing. DLP LightCrafter 9000 also can realize fast data transfer and synchronization of DMD and camera. I want to know what's the difference of them, which one is better?

Any information would be very helpful. Thank you so much.

All the best,

Xiaolei

  • Hi Xiaolei,

The main difference in the end experience of the DLP9000 and the DLP9000X is the operating speed. The input data clock on the DLP9000 is 400 MHz and it is 480 MHz on the DLP9000X. So the DLP9000 is capable of displaying 1-bit patterns at 9.5 kHz and the DLP9000X is capable of displaying 1-bit patterns at 15 kHz.

Also, the interface is different for the two parts. The EVM available for the DLP9000 comes with a GUI and you can pre-store patterns or send them over parallel RGB port (HDMI or Display Port). This can be accomplished with a PC or an embedded solution.

To interface with the DLP9000X, you would use an apps FPGA.

If you let me know some of your design requirements (application, pattern speed, preferred mode of operation, etc.) I can help point you in the right direction.

    Best regards,
    Trevor
  • Hi Trevor,

Thank you for information. One more question about DLP LightCrafter 9000. Can I use this EVM to develop our own program since we need control DMD and camera simultaneously? According what you said, seems we need use DLP9000X, right?

We want integrate DMD with microscope, and it be used as fast speed spatial modulator. So we want have API, like DLL library, so we can develop our program flexibly.

    Thank you.

    All the best,
    Xiaolei
