Hi, Nadine

It seems my 4710 DLP EVM board is bricked, the RGB LED is always off and I can't get firmware version anymore when I connected the USB cable to PC. how can I recover the EVM? Can I re-flash the MSP430 image with JTAG? how to?

Hello Jeffery,

I am sorry to hear that. Yes you can re-program the MSP430 with the MSP-FET430UIF ().

The MSP430 is available on the EVM tool folder.

To be able to support you it would be helpful for me to understand what you did before the EVM broke. Did you update the MSP430 code ? Did you reload a new DLPC3439 firmware ?

Can you please provide a screenshot of the first GUI information page ?

I have disconnected the FPCs and the R, G, B cables, and connected them again, since I have opened the box to check the size of projector

please check the above picture, there are 4 green LEDs on, and light engine is not working.
USB drivers are normal, but can't read the EVM information anymore.

Hello Jeffrey,

It looks like that the DLPC3439 does not finish the initialization during boot up. Can you please try to download the firmware on the EVM via the EVM GUI ?

I have another 4710 DLP EMV, it works normally, so I have backed up its image and download the image to the bad one, the download is successfully, but it doesn't fix the problem. (I have power-cycled the bad EVM after the download) .
so, do you think the hardware is damaged ?

It might be an issue with the hardware. Can you please check the flex cable connection ? I have send you a new image a week ago.

our hardware engineer has found the root cause, there is no 5V output from DLPA3005, maybe the DLPA3005 has damaged.
about the new image which you has sent to me, I have no chance to test it, since I am afraid it would bricked the only one EVM left in my hand.

Hello Jeffrey,

The 5V is getting provided by the DLPA3005. The general purpose buck will be enabled during the DLPC3439 initialization. Your system doesn't finish the auto-initialization which means PWR6 doesn't get enabled. So I am not surprised that you don't get the 5V.

Can you please measure if you have following voltages P1P1V, P1P8V and the P3P3V ? If yes, I don't think the DLPA3005 is the issue.

Normally the two main reasons for not finishing the auto-initialization is a damaged flash image or a bad connection to the DMD.
