DLP LightCrafter - Can it be used to detect scratches on a surface?

We have a client that is interested to see if we can come up with a solution that could detect scratches or dents on cars. Could DLP LightCrafter be used effectively for something like this? If so, what would be the practical resolution limits?

Hi Adam,

I believe that the Lightcrafter could be used in such an application. I'm thinking that using a 3D scanning type set-up would probably be a good starting point. I would take a look at the following resources and see what you think:

Hard to say exactly what the practical resolution limits would be for a system such as that. It's highly dependent on the environment that the scan is taking place and the camera being used to read the images.
