Light Commander - Optical efficiency

Hi,

I'd like to bring up some questions regarding the LC since the optical part in the system is most important to us with what we use it with.

Is it possible to get a ray tracing drawing/file showing the parts and elements within the system and the performance of the system based on the RGB and IR LED, modules

Is it possible to get efficiency figure, Optical output of modulated light VS optical input power.

Is it possible to get information on the uniformity level at the output?

Is the projected output is an off axis projection or on axis projection?

What is the maximum optical power that can be used to illuminate the DMD before causing it to fail?  (if the working mode is CW In VIS , and in NIR), is it entrance angle sensitive, would there be a difference between coherent to non coherent light source with that regard.

Thanks,

Yuval

  • Hello Yuval,

Welcome to the DLP section of the TI E2E community.

This kit is produced by LogicPD.   Whether these design details will be released will be up to them.

As for your last question, when the kit is formally released there should be a datasheet for the DMD available at that time and should contain most of the information you are looking for on DMD maximum power information.

  • Yuval,

Those are great questions. I have forwarded them on to the team and hope to have answers for you soon.

  • Yuval,

Here are the answers from the team:

Is it possible to get information on the uniformity level at the output?

    ·         Based on a very small sample of initial production units, the maximum uniformity is roughly 13%. The minimum uniformity is roughly -44%.

Is the projected output is an off axis projection or on axis projection?

    ·         The optical system is an off axis projection design.

What is the maximum optical power that can be used to illuminate the DMD before causing it to fail?  (if the working mode is CW In VIS , and in NIR), is it entrance angle sensitive, would there be a difference between coherent to non coherent light source with that regard.

    ·         The specifications for the DMD chip itself are covered in detail here: http://www.ti.com/litv/pdf/dlps013a

    Thanks
