More powerful LED

Thanks for your question. Let me do some research and see if there is any recommendation that we can give you. Unfortunately the Lightcrafter LEDs are inside the optical engine which will require advanced disassembly.

Most likely you'll have to replace both the driver and the LED itself.

Hi Leonardo,

The LEDs that are in the Lightcrafter 4500 optical engine currently are capable of 20A of forward current. The driver circuitry on the EVM is capable of producing 6A, so the first limitation is in the driver. I suggest that you read this post (e2e.ti.com/.../518509) for details on how to connect an external driver properly.

We don't have an recommendations on specific LED driver circuits or boards that you can use but whatever you choose you'll have to be aware of any additional thermal issues that may be caused. Connectors may not be rated for up to 20A of constant current and if you use higher than the 5A used by the driver right now, you'll also have to control overall board temperature as well.

Hi Paul,

I found that the blue led present in my light crafter is not the  one indicated from you (LE B P2W). This is not a big issue in principle. The problem is that I'm not able to buy the blue led LE B P2W.

Can you help me? Could you send me the proper LED?

I'm sorry for the confusion - over time, there have been updates to the lightcrafter so depending on when yours was produced, there could be a different LED.

We won't be able to send you the proper LED because we buy the optics modules as complete units. I recommend looking at the datasheet for the LED I told you about and choosing one with similar parameters for your application.
