Choosing a DMD for a university project

Hey guys,

I'm looking to spec out a DMD for a school project. Our application is to display simple patterns through an optical channel onto a screen. The displayed image doesn't need a high refresh rate and can be black and white. We have a $650 CAD total budget for the project, so we are looking for a cheap solution. Does anyone have suggestions on which DMD/EVM to use? It seems like the LightCrafter EVM is more than we need and provides an API to control the DMD, but it's a little out of our price range. As this is a school project we're not looking to make our own board to interface with the DMD. Any suggestions are appreciated!

Hi Doug,

Thanks for your question and welcome to the DLP forums. Unfortunately the Lightcrafter is our cheapest EVM. If you don't need features such as triggering or stored patterns, then I would look t the Lightcrafter Display 2010 EVM from the Pico group (www.ti.com/.../DLPDLCR2010EVM). It's a little cheaper and might be more what you're looking for.
