How to use HDMI mode for DLP 3000

Hello! I want to upload lots of images (more than 5000) at a higher rate. It seems that I have to use the HDMI mode. But how to implement this?

My laptop only has VGA interface not HDMI. Here is how I connect between DLP and my laptop: DLP--> mini-HDMI-->VGA--->my laoptop. I chose the HDMI port in the software GUI but nothing shows in DLP. I think it is due to the VGA. How can I solve this problem if my laptop doesn't have a HDMI port?

Another suggestion: could you please provide a step by step guide for using the modes in the user's guide? I still feel confused how to use the modes after I read the user's guide. Previously I used the micro-SD card to load the images. I didn't know how to write the config.txt file until I searched the forum. But it took some time browsing the results. The forum is a great source. But it will be greater if you could include a detailed instruction in the user's guide.

Thanks!

  • Ruonan,

Welcome of the DLP Forums and thank you for questions. I've never had the chance the to try a VGA to HDMI connector with the LCr4500 - if you give me a a little time, I can give it a shot and see if I can make it work. To get you started, I can give you the following tips:
    * Make sure your resolution to the Lightcrafter is correct.
    * Try to configure the VGA output as a DVI output.

If you're able, try to find an HDMI source and try it out on your Lightcrafter to see if it works.

Can you clarify what you mean by "using the modes?" We can definitely make a note to improve the user's guide if there is something you find confusing. Are you using the GUI?

    Thanks,
    Paul
  • Hi Ruonan,

That VGA to HDMI connector is not going to work unfortunately. VGA is analog video and the Lightcrafter needs digital input. I can recommend that you find an HDMI video source with no adapter or you could use a DVI-D port to HDMI which should work as well. This post (e2e.ti.com/.../1065025 discusses these issues in some greater detail.

    Thanks,
    Paul
  • Thank you for the reply! I used the min-displayport-->HDMI-->mini-HDMI, which works.
