LightCrafter 4500 unable to display pattern sequences from internal flash (Windows 10)

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DLPC350

Hi everyone,

Unfortunately, we experienced plural issues with the DLP 4500. After the unable to read manufacturer ID issue, we are actually facing a new issue of unknown nature. When we first plug the DLP and installed the GUI, we made first tries with a pattern sequence drawn from internal flash that we repeat. It worked well and we saw the images projected. After confronting and solving the unable to read manufacturer ID issue, we tried again to do the same manipulation but nothing was projected. The main problem is that actually no images are displayed on the DMD which stays blanks, it is as if the micro-mirrors did not work anymore.

On the GUI, there is actually no error report and everything seems to work normally in the DLP Lightcrafter. The only indication we have is that the sequence abort button pops red when we play the pattern sequence on the DMD. Would you have any clue if it is a material problem or something we might work around using the GUI ?

We are working on a perfectly up to date WIndows 10 with all drivers and BIOS up to date. Firmware version is the latest available on TI. We have tried solution that did not work : 1) uninstalling all DLP drivers and GUI and reinstalling them 2) Setting the patttern sequence, sending and playing it via HID packets to get rid of the GUI

Thanks for your return,

Best regards,

David Martin

  • Hi David,

Sorry that you've had difficulty with your Lightcrafter. Hopefully we can solve your issue.

If you're seeing the sequence abort button pop up red, perhaps there is an error with your sequence. Can you post the details of the sequence you're trying to display and any screen shots that might be relevant?

    Thanks,
    Paul
  • Hi Paul,

Actually the sequence passes through the validation test, and the validation button pops green. With my HID program, I also send the validation packet which return a positive answer. So i guess this is not the reason of the issue. Still let me show you how I configure the sequence on the GUI

And then when I run the sequence I get :

  • David,

I guess I'm having trouble understanding exactly what your issue is.

Your LCr4500 no longer outputs patterns under any conditions? Just under some conditions?

Can you try displaying an internal test pattern in video mode just to confirm that the DMD is still working?

    Thanks,
    Paul
  • Hi Paul,

Yes, that is it the LCr4500 no longer outputs patterns under any conditions. I tried displaying an internal test pattern in video mode without success, the DMD does not change its mirrors.

    Regards,

    David

  • Hi Everyone,

We figured out what was the issue. Be careful when you do manipulation on the LCr because the plugs that goes from the eletronic board to the DMD (which is a band plug with copper incrusted) can be unclipped without you noticing. I mean that just a small part of it can be unclipped so that in the outside it appears as clipped but in fact it can not transfer the information from the DLPC350 to the DMD.

Thanks for the support though Paul,
    Best regards,
    David
  • David,

Glad you were able to figure it out! Thanks for posting back to the community to let us know.
