DLP2010 EVM Focus Wheel

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DLP2010

Hi Everyone,

I just received my DLP2010 EVM and noticed that the focus wheel is VERY fragile and never stays put. For instance, when I get the focus right, once I let go of the focus wheel, it "pulls back" and loses focus. In the case of finally getting it to stay put at a set focus, one little tap anywhere on the board causes the focus wheel to move and revert back to not being in focus. Has anyone else dealt with this issue? Do I have a defective board or is the DLP2010 EVM literally this fragile?

Regards,

Manuel Degracia

  • Manuel,

I have personally had experiences similar to that which you describe with the 2010 EVM. However, I have found that tuning the focus wheel very carefully makes the optical engine's mechanical adjustment operate more reliably. Once adjusted, the focus wheel on the EVM is not normally as flimsy as you describe it to be. It is possible that your particular unit has particularly loose mechanical parts inside the optical engine. Since the optical engine is provided by Asia Optical, I would recommend you try contacting them for more information.

    I hope this helps.

  • Hi Philippe,

I have tried contacting them multiple times and they never respond to any inquiries. Is there anything TI can do? Can I just get a replacement DLP2010 EVM?

  • Manuel,

The EVM can be replaced, but only if it is still under the 90 day warranty. When did you purchase this EVM?
