DLP Lightcrafter 9000 cannot be detectedd

I newly bought a DLP Lightcrafter 9000 with EVM. Today I tried it out but found out that after I connected it with a 12 V power which is the recommended one, only D11 and D12 LED lit on, D5 did not light on, D7 and D9 did not toggle. I also connected the EVM with my PC and opened the latest GUI 3.0, but it indicated that my EVM is disconnected. Is my DMD damaged? What can I do to save it? Thanks!

Hi Di,

Sorry that you're having trouble! Does your 12V supply provide enough current? You'll need 7A.

The LEDs tell me that the controllers are not operating properly. I assume that you don't see anything happening on the DMD?

Hi Paul,

My charger I am using now has a 5A output, so it is not enough? I remember I bought a recommended charger according to the TI website. Yeah, I cannot see anything on the DMD and the controller LEDs both do not toggle at all. In conclusion, you think I need to change the charger to a 7A output one? Thanks!

Hmm, if you bought the TI recommended power supply then that should be okay. Let me see if I can find out some more and get back to you.

Hi Paul,

I read the user guide, it said that the maximum current for the power supply is 7 A and the minimum is 0A, so I think my supply of 5A is okay, is it right? So have you got some suggestions for me?

Hi Di,

Most likely the boot loader has gotten corrupted. Please follow the instructions in section 3.10 of the Lightcrafter 6500 and 9000 user's guide on using JTAG to fix the firmware. After you complete that procedure, the board should turn on as expected.
