59.94 Hz instead of 60Hz

Ubuntu 16.04 with Nvidia GeForce Titan X (367.57 proprietary drivers) and projector connected via HDMI port. But  what I see it only 59.94Hz instead of  60Hz, and I'm working with Pattern Sequence with HDMI as a pattern source, with synchronization my camera  with Trig_Out_2, so really I need true 60Hz. Do you have any recommendation how to make it 60Hz?

Thank you.

  • Hi Nik,

Let me do a little digging on this and see if there is anything we can recommend. That value could be in the EDID or it could be a detected value, at which point you would want to try to change your video card.

I'll post back when I know more.

    Thanks,
    Paul
  • Hi Nik,

You should be okay, please go ahead and run the configuration.

    Regards,

    Sanjeev

  • Thank you Paul, what did you mean should be ok? It's not 60Hz!?

I'm going to use 60Hz HDMI (vsync) signal with Pattern Source and work in Pattern Sequence mode and use Triger_Out2 from LC4500 to sync to trigger camera.

  • Hi Nik,

Sanjeev believes that the value is close enough to 60 that it shouldn't be an issue. Can you try running that configuration and see if it causes any problems for you?

  • Hi Paul,

Somethings is definitely mis-synced. Please see below screenshot with my setup. And with 60Hz I should see 30Hz  output right? Or something regular.

and here is what I'm getting on the TRIG2_OUT - irregular pulses:

    Thanks.

  • By any chance have you selected the 'Clear DMD after the exposure? This would add another 235us time, so your total display time become 16666 + 235 =  16901

    16901 > 16683us.

The other option to ensure everything is setup properly is to ensure that the , Seq. Error or Seq Abort flags must be not lit, else DMD is not able to complete the display of the data, so you can adjust either pattern&pattern exposure to a smaller number or adjust the actual frame-rate on the graphics card.

    Regards,
    SAnjeev

  • Thank you SAnjeev,

No "'Clear DMD after the exposure" not selected (please see solution export).

Also there are no errors too.

  • Hi Nik,

Are you able to adjust the frame rate on the graphics card in fine increments? That is probably the next thing I would try.

    -Paul
  • Thank you Paul,

But, I've never seen this functionality for NVidia card (at least for Ubuntu 16.04).

  • I'm not sure what to recommend - it appears that the video card is sending 59.94Hz because that's what the Lightcrafter is reading as the input. If there is no tweaking on the source side, I don't think there are any options available on the LCr4500 side of things.

I am a little perplexed by your screenshot above because you are correct that you should see regular triggers. What does TRIG_OUT1 show?
