DLP NIRscan Nano EVM Bluetooth is not working

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DLPC150

Hi everyone,

i’m having problem with the bluetooth connection, when I press for more than three second the Scan/Bluetooth botton the blue LED starts pulsing on and off. The GUI interface shows than a Bluetooth error connection occurred, but when I click on the BLE error light no dialog window is appearing. I’ve tried different phones both with IOS and Android NIRSCAN app, but no phone seems to recognize the device via bluetooth connection. Has everyone a clue on how solve this problem?

  • Riccardo,

The solid blue LED indicates that Bluetooth is active and advertising. Once connected to a device, the blue LED will pulse. Did the blue LED pulse or was it slide blue?

I would recommend downloading the LightBlue iOS App or the LightBlue Mac App or similar Bluetooth explorer app to see if the NIRscan Nano is advertising properly. If it is advertising properly, you should see NIRscan Nano in the list of devices and be able to interrogate its serial number.

    If it is advertising properly:

    • Quit the iOS app and power down the NIRscan Nano.
    • Power the NIRscan Nano, hold the scan button for three seconds, and verify the blue LED is on.
    • Quit the GUI so it does not interfere with NIRscan Nano operation.
    • Run the iOS app and tap on "Scan" at the top right
    • Wait several seconds, the first time it connects to a NIRscan Nano it might take several seconds before it starts downloading calibration data
    • Once it downloads the calibration data, then it is ready to scan

Make sure that the Tiva firmware has been upgraded to version 2.01. The latest iOS app requires the latest version of the Tiva firmware. Also ensure that v2.0.2 of the GUI is used with Tiva v2.0.1.

    Best regards,
    Pedro

    Dear Pedro,

    Thanks for your support.

I've followed your suggestion and i've tried to interrogate the device by the LightBlue iOS App. When i connect the device and press the bluetooth botton, the blue LED starts Blinking and The IOS app is reporting that no pheripherals are found nearby.

I would really appreciate any other help that you could provide.

    Regards,

    Riccardo

  • Hello Riccardo,

It would assist us greatly in aiding you if you could tell us what version of the GUI, TIVA firmware and DLPC150 firmware you are using.  This should be on the first tab of the GUI.  Thanks.

    Fizix

  • Hi Fizix,
I'm using Tiva SW version 2.0.1, GUI version 2.0.2 and DLPC Flash version 2.0.0.
    Riccardo
  • Hello Riccardo,

Thank you for providing that information.  Pedro is our primary expert on this and is out for the holidays.  We ask your patience until he returns.

    Thanks!

    Fizix

  • Riccardo,

Thanks. Version 2.x introduced slew scan configurations. This requires the latest version of the iOS app. What version of the iOS App are you using? The current NIRscan Nano iOS version is 2.1.

    Best regards,
    Pedro

  • Pedro,

Thanks for your support. I'm using the latest version available, NIRscan Nano iOS version 2.1.

    Best regards and happy holidays!

  • Riccardo,

I have found that the iOS app sometimes does not disconnect properly. I have to quit the iOS app (double tap and swipe the app up). Power off the Nano and power it up. Then restart the app and reconnect.

If this does not solve your problem. Can you please list the steps you are taking and the results that you see.

    Best regards,
    Pedro
