DLPDLCR4710EVM-G2: Firmware and GUI problems

Part Number: DLPDLCR4710EVM-G2

Hello,

We recently bought a DLPDLCR4710EVM-G2 and we want to explore it a little bit but we are facing some problems that we hope you can help us to solve.

1. For some reason, we are not able to download the Firmware available Full HD DLP4710 !

error message :

An error occurred while processing your request.
Reference #132.8d5e6cc1.1484220429.1bc6c55f

2. Using the DLP LightCrafter Display 4710 EVM-G2 GUI we are trying to backup the firmware but we get an error as shown in the images

Actually this is not the only issue regarding the DLP LightCrafter Display v5.0! Most of the features give an error while executed so we are wondering if something is wrong with the firmware.

We appreciate any help provided and we thank you for your time.

  • Hello Ahmed,

I am sorry that you are having trouble with the DLP LightCrafter 4710 EVM.

Is the EVM otherwise working correctly. Do you see the DLP splash screen after turning the EVM on ?

I just downloaded the GUI v5.0 and tried with the G2 EVM and I didn't run into any problems. I don't think it is an issue with the GUI.

Are other I2C commands working correctly ? Like selecting Pattern or Splash Images ?

    Thanks,

    Nadine

  • Hello Nadine,

    Thank you for your response.
Yes the EVM is working when I start it I see the DLP Splash.

I think none of the I2C commands is working ! I can't set a pattern or a splash screen. And as you see in the first image the firmware and software versions are 0 ( I suppose it cannot be 0.0.0).
The following is the ouptut I get when I start the EVM and try to change a splash: (I get as a result some kind of blur image which I cannot tell what and it's the same for any splash I select)

  • Hello Ahmed,

It looks like the I2C communication between the DLP controller and the cypress chip is not working correctly.

Can you please check if MCU_REQ is going High and afterwards the MCU_ACK when sending an I2C command via the GUI ?

    Best regards,
    Nadine
  • Hello Nadine,

I tested both signals after sending a splash screen request and both go high for about 150 ms. I assume that's the normal case but still get the "Read Cmd:SplashScreenHeader, addr:37, subAddr:f SendRead(FAILED(1))" message.

  • Hello Nadine,

I think the problems are related to the windows 10 driver (yeah I forgot to mention I am using windows 10). I managed to perform all the features provided by the GUI in my laptop (windows 7).

    Thank you for your time.

  • Hello Ahmed,

Ok thank you for letting me know. I am glad it is working now.

    Best regards,
