Using the Explorer software

I have been using the Explorer software for all working with the board. Can I do applicatons without using the Explorer software?

How? which all ides support the API ?..Please reply .

  • Hello Rahul,

You can certainly do applications without the Explorer software.  You can write your own wrapper for the ActiveX control and/or the DLL if you wish to operate through USB.  Please refer to the "Discovery 4000 Controller Board API Programmer's Guide" under the D4000 link on the Discovery Software page.

You can also write your own custom APPS_FPGA code using the example code provided on the Knowledgebase (same page as the Programmer's Guide).  If you write your own APPS_FPGA code you are not limited to the USB interface, instead you can create an interface using one of the other high speed connectors available on the board.  These connectors are described in section 3 of Drawing # 2509510 "Discovery 4000 Starter Kit Technica Reference Manual" under the D4000 link on the  Discovery Documentation page.

  • I just install the discovery 4000 software. However, when I try to run it, it keeps showing "device not attached". I could not open the DDC4000 control window from the DMD menu. Not sure what I missed. Thanks for any help.

  • Hello Dong,

I will work to assist you with this issue.

When you attached the USB cable to your PC did it detect and install the device drivers?

Did you plug the device into USB before loading the Discovery software?
