Hold the power button down for about 8 secs - a number of test patterns are displayed in sequence.

Mine does not do that.

It only does it from powerup, i.e. start with it off.press & hold the button, keep it pressed after it comes on for about 10 secs until test pattern starts.

Tried everything.Still no test patterns

1. On power up > 10s.

2. Removed and replaced power supply, held power button >10s.

3. On power down > 10s

Anything more to do?

Maybe yours has a different firmware version.

Yep I get this various test patterns, blocks, red blue gren, stripes etc and without the VGS->HVGA artifacts!
