Baisc doubts

Hello sir

I want to clarify some doubts about the D400 board.

The d4000 board which I am using is DLP® Discovery 4000 .55” XGA Type X Starter Kit.

The FPGA  is already loaded with a program to display the image which is being loaded and by resetting the mirrors it will be displayed on the DMD chip.So for some projecting applications i have to use a light source to project the image displayed on the DMD.is this conclusion is correct or not? If this judgment is correct then which all type of sources can be used for the application?

if I want to do another application I have to program the FPGA using Xilinx ISE ? How ?

whether any demos or videos are available for help on doing dlp applications?

Also  I have been using the Explorer software for all working with the board. Can I do applicatons without using the Explorer software?

Please reply .

  • Hi Sheela,

I'm glad to hear that you are looking into using the D4000 kit. The FPGA you have is pre-loaded with sample code of how to interface with the DDC4000 with different patterns. It is meant to be a starting point. If you would like to do your own development, you can use the open source code as a reference, which is located on the KnowledgeBase. There is also a chipset interface document that explains the interface to the DDC4000 and how to send commands on the KnowledgeBase.

If you haven't already, please visit the www.dlpdiscovery.com website for more examples of applications and other useful information. It also contains information about light engines and optical modules.

  • Typical Optics and a light source are used in conjunction with the DMD.. There are some available off the self solutions for the .55" XGA Type X.  Who ever you purchased your Starter Kit from should be able to help.
