0.55" XGA 2xLVDS Maximum illumination

I read from the 0.5" 2xLVDS XGA document that the maximum illumination is:  wavelength < 395nm ,2.00mW/cm2.

wavelength >800nm ,10mW/cm2. But i can't find some describe about VIS(400nm-800nm),Our wavelength of interest is

405nm purple-blue laser.

Can i get some useful information about my doubt?

  • Hello Liang Cai,

The specs you mention are given and specified related to using the DMD in a front projection system designed for visible light.

At the end of May, we will release a qualfied DMD designed for use with High power UV light with an updated Datasheet.  In this data sheet, we have specified the performance of the DMD primarily under 365nm operation, which is a shorter wavelength than your application, however, it will highlight some consideration for you application.

The UV DMD can handle high power UV light (3W/cm^2, peak power at 365nm) for significant periolds of time (1000's of hours) under controlled temperature (30C).  The main parameter is that the DMD light efficiency reduces after long periods of time under UV power.  Many customer have implemented and are using DLP in such applications as PCB lithography and Rapid prototyping.  Please see the following link on DLPDiscovery.com:

    http://focus.ti.com/dlpdmd/docs/dlpdesigncenterdetail.tsp?sectionId=61&tabId=2265

At this point, we have not tested the DMD at 405nm with a laser source.  However, I think that you will be able to use the information provided in the UV DMD data sheet to better understand the performance expectations for you application.

Let us know if you have any further quesitons.

  • Thanks for your reply!

  • You are welcome.  Let us know if you have further questions.

  • Hello,

Did this DMD ever get released? I cannot find the datasheet or any mention of it on the product page.

    Cheers,

    John

  • John,

There are 2 DMDs that support UV applications.

    - 0.7" XGA UVA

    - 0.95" 1080P UVA

Both of these DMDs are supported by the Discovery 4100. You may find more information about the Discovery 4100 and the DMDs from one of DLP's partner Design Houses listed at www.ti.com/dlpdesign. Companies that sell and support the DLP Discovery Kits are denoted by *. Please contact one of these Design Houses for more information.
