DLP4500: Sending the DLP 4500 a series of images

Part Number: DLP4500
We are interested in commanding the LC4500-UV (DLP4500) for a 3D printing machine for our senior design project at Virginia Tech. Do you have any recommendations for how to interface with the projector so we can send a series of images to the projector without uploading to flash memory? The GUI seemed inconvenient to upload many pictures to the firmware every time a print needs to be made.
For the rest of our system, we are using LabVIEW to command it.
  • Hi David,

If I understand your question correctly, you'd like to send images to the projector without storing them in memory? In that case video input over HDMI is going to be your best option. The Lightcrafter 4500 doesn't support sending images on the fly over USB to the projector.

If your design is able to tolerate a load time, you should be able to write code which uses I2C commands to the Lightcrafter 4500 and you can automate loading images into flash. I recommend taking a look at our GUI source code for examples on how this is done. www.ti.com/dlplcr4500gui-v4
