Linux/DLPLIGHTCRAFTER: Linux GUI installer not working, Ubuntu 16.04

Part Number: DLPLIGHTCRAFTER

Tool/software: Linux

Hi,

we have purchased one of your DLP Lightcrafter Evaluation Modules and are currently having some issues with the Linux GUI software.
The EVM and the Linux software are found on this link www.ti.com/.../dlplightcrafter

We have downloaded the executable file from the Active software list and followed the download instructions from the PDF User's Guide however the .run file appears to take no action when run.
Using sudo commands and also executing from root make no difference. The file seems to execute because the next line appears in the terminal with no error message but no installer opens up or anything at all.
I'm pretty sure its not an issue with my linux as i have had no trouble executing and running other .run installers for other software. I also tried this on another laptop of mine with Ubuntu 16.04 and still no success.
My Qt and Tk libraries are also up to date.

My linux is Ubuntu 16.04. Getting this software working is integral for our current project so any help is appreciated.

Thank you.

  • Hi Eric,

Sorry to hear about these difficulties. Please allow us a little time to look into this - it isn't an issue what we've seen before.

Unfortunately, if there is any issue with the installer and we have to fix it, it will take us some time to post the new installer to the web. I would recommend that you try to find a Windows machine and start your work there so that you can continue on your project.

    Thanks,
    Paul
  • Hi Eric,

My apologies for the long delay in getting back to you. There aren't many Linux machines around and I had to get one up and running. At this point I can say that it appears I am seeing the same thing. I'm going to work on debugging and I'll post back when I know a little more.

If you've been able to solve this problem, let me know - I'd be curious to see how you fixed it.

    -Paul
  • Hi Eric,

It looks like the installer needs to be run on 32bit Linux, not 64bit Linux. I was able to successfully run the file on Ubuntu 14.04, 32bit.

Let me know if that solves your issue.
