DLPLCR4500EVM: Spots from the Light Engine of DLPLCR4500EVM

Part Number: DLPLCR4500EVM

Dear,

When I test the system of TIDA00254, I found some spots come from the light engine, like this:

I can not get the spots off.

Another problem is that I find the picture is not sharp same as the picture taken with the software of  Pointgrey . What is wrong?

Thanks a lot.

  • The point cloud will have hole there. The DLPLCR4500EVM is brand new.

  • Hi Shaokang,

The dots on the first image look like dust on the surface of the DMD or somewhere in the optics. Use a light and shine it down the front of the optics and see if you can find the dust. If you can't and it is critical that you eliminate the spots, you can try taking apart the optics engine to get to the DMD and blow the dust off the glass.

As for the images not being sharp, can you check the scan images in {installed directory}\LCr4500_3D_Scanner_Application_v2\output\scan_images

Do they look sharp or do they match what you see in the camera calibration window above?

    Thanks,
    Paul

  • Hi, Paul

    Sorry for late reply.

I am busy for my project and hope to have an easy way to deal this, for example, changing the light engine by TI. I am careful due to I do not want to have more problem. So, It is the only way to clean it?

Anyway, I see that when it is lighted constantly, it is OK, no spot there. I think the problem comes out when it is changing speedly.

    What should I do?

    Thanks and regards.

    Shaokang

  • Hi Shaokang,

I think I may have made a mistake in my first post. Do you see the spots when you look at the projected image with your eyes? If not, then the dust is in the camera, NOT the projector. Make sure your camera sensor and lenses are clean. It is very unlikely that your projector is the issue.

  • Dear Paul,

You are right. The problem is solved. Some dusts on the glass of my camera bihind the lens.

    Thanks a lot.

    Regards.
