DLP2010: Is it possible to remove the window covering the DMD? If so, how should we go about it?

Hello,

We are currently trying to use a laser to project an image off the DMD and we get interference fringes. This ends up distorting the image we want to project with lines over the system. Is it possible to remove the window covering the DMD? If so, how should we go about it? Does TI allow us to exchange the device for one without the window attached to it? Thank you.

Thanks for your interest in our DLP chipsets.

TI does not provide windowless DMDs. As such, if you want to cut the window off of your DMD you do so at your own risk. I would also recommend you check out the DLP2010 DMD datasheet (http://www.ti.com/lit/ds/symlink/dlp2010.pdf) for more information about the DMD window. Please refer to section 6.12 "Window Characteristics".

Does TI sell DLP chipsets specifically geared for UV range? Would we be able to exchange our chipset? Thank you.

You can get a list of UV-compatible DMDs/chipsets here: www.ti.com/.../ultraviolet-products.page

Did you purchase your DMD from a distributor? You may want to ask them specifically if you are interested in exchanges.

Thank you for the immediate response. Based on the product we have, is it possible to modify it to make it better suited for UV wavelengths? If so, how should we approach this? Thanks!

Hello,

Unfortunately, we do not have any such methods for supporting use of UV wavelengths with this DMD. I would recommend in this particular case that you use DMDs from our UV catalogue for your application.
