What is the functional difference between the

DLP6500FYE and the DLP6500FLQ

Both are listed on the datasheet for the DLP LightCrafter 6500

Hello Jim,

Sorry for the delay created by the long holiday weekend.

These are two different package types for same DMD die:

The DLP6500FYE package, although robust is not hermetically sealed. It is a lower cost package and the DMD window is attached by an "encapsulant" that is similar to an epoxy.
The DLP6500FLQ package is hermetically sealed and often appropriate for harsh industrial environments, especially when high humilities are expected. The process for manufacturing a hermetically sealed package results in a higher cost.

do you know which version is in the 6500EVM? - I assume it's the lower cost one

Jim,

That is correct. If you wanted to use the other chip with the kit you would either need to build a DMD board for it or purchase one from one of our design partners such as DLi or ViALUX.
