Hi,

I am designing a projector with DLP660TE based on TI Reference Design.

But I am not sure how to download the firmware Online, and are there any methods or tools to download firmware of dual DLPC4422 except before the assembly of the electronics?

Any help is much appreciated.

Kelly,

Thank you for your interest in DLP technology. Are you working with an optical module manufacture for optics and only designing the PCB board or you are designing a complete projector by yourself ?

Thank you for your reply.
I will design a complete projector with my colleague and I am responsible for the PCB designs, include main board, DMD board and LED power board.
According to DLP660TE 4K UHD Chipset Reference Design and SCH, I can achieve the PCB design. But I am mot sure how to download the bootloader or firmware to DLPC4422 flash after the assembly of the electronics.
Now I want to know how to download or update the bootloader or firmware(include FPGA firmware) by DLP Composer Lite.
Can you guide me any methods or any update tools?

Kelly,

There are typically two ways of downloading the firmware:

1. Use ARM JTAG tools to talk to the DLPC4422 via JTAG port and download the boot loader in flash memory via DPC4422 controller. This will require buying expensive ARM JTAG tools and also learning time.

2. More preferred and commonly used option is to program the flash with the firmware ( includes bootlaoder code) using an external flash programmer tool and then solder the flash memory on the board. Most of the optical engine manufactures use this option. Once the bootlaoder and the flash image is downloaded you can use DLP Composer Lite tool to download the firmware ( not boot loader) repeatedly.

Hi, Anshul

I already know the two ways you said and I want to get a better understanding.

1. Can you support the part NO. and manufacturer of ARM JTAG tools? I used UM232H designed by FTDI in DLPC900 firmware. So I also want to know whether it is available in DLPC4422 firmware.

2. I understand how to use external flash programmer tool to program the DLPC4422 flash. Are there same firmware between master DLPC4422 flash and slave DLPC4422 flash?

Kelly,

1. UM232H support is not available with DLPC4422.

2. We recommend best option is to go with #2 method. Firmware for both Master and Slave is same. At power up the initialization code automatically configure the controller as Master and Slave.
