DLP6500: Direct Solder?

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DLP6500FYE

Hi,

We are considering to solder the dlp6500fye directly to a PCB without using a socket(2511569 type), as recommended.

Could this pose a problem? In the TI website we found a PCB foot print only for the socket and not for the dlp6500fye, which is why we are hesitant.

On the other hand – Is the socket mandatory?

I will be out of office for most of the remaining August, so please be sure to copy Zvi Biener, our electrionic engineer.

He is here copied, but for some readon I could only add him as bcc. His email is zvi.biener@elbitsystems.com.

Thank you for your help, and best regards,

Yuval

  • Hi Yuval,

Soldering the DLP6500FYE to a board would most likely violate the maximum non-operational temperature and or temperature delta limits as specified in the datasheet, hence which is why the socket is always used.
