TIDA-00254: Problem wit TI3D Scanner scale

Part Number: TIDA-00254

Hello,

I have a 3D scanner system created with the projector lightcrafter 4500 and an IDS industrial camera. I have configure the Texas Instruments 3D scanner software and calibrate the system with a reprojection error above 1 in the camera and projector calibration procces.  I have use a calibration board and the length of each square is 11.36 mm. Everything seems to be ok but when a I reconstruct an object and align with the corresponding CAD there is a considerable error in the scale, about 1 cm.

I do not know how to solve the problem and I would appreciate any help.

Thanks in advance,

Best regards, Josu

  • Hi Josu,

The TIDA-00254 is intended to be a reference design or proof of concept. The algorithms that we use for building the point cloud and the depth map are somewhat rudimentary so the results may not be as good as your application demands.

If you're getting the system to scan and generate a point cloud, then it sounds like it is operating correctly. If the results are not up to the level you desire, then I would recommend that you begin implementing your own algorithms to produce the results that your application requires.

    Best,
    Paul
