Pattern sequence aspect ratio

The images accepted by the pattern sequence mode must be 912x1140 (and so taller than they are wide) but the output of the projector is wider than it is tall and so images come out squashed.  Do images that are to be displayed via pattern sequence mode need to be stretched vertically before importing to compensate?

  • Hi Mike,

Welcome to the DLP forums and thanks for your questions. The aspect ratio issue that you're talking about is due to the diamond pixel orientation of the DMD and is well discussed here on the forums. I would recommend that you use the search function to find some threads on this topic. Here is a link to our FAQ on this topic as well: e2e.ti.com/.../3425.alc-general-faq

When you load your images in 912x1140, just remember that it will be stretched 2x in the horizontal direction. I would recommend building your patterns starting with a 912 x 1140 image and take into account that the projector will stretch them.

    Hope that is clear,
    Paul
