Large MEMS pointing mirrors

Hi,

I was wondering what was the largest size available is for the MEMS pointing mirrors. I am looking for something with a  6 or 7 mm diameter. I some of the literature, the largest MEMS mirrors available is  5 mm diameter. Are specs available for a part that large? For the TALP1000B, is there any information about the frequency response?

Thanks

Stephanie

  • Stephanie,

Thank you for your interest in the Texas Instruments Analog Mirror offerings. The largest mirror we are currently offering is the TALP1000B with a 3.2mm x 3.6mm elliptical mirror surface. It is intended for use in pointing applications, but can also be used in scanning applications where the scan rate is near or below the resonant frequency of between 100 and 150Hz. In pointing applications, the mirror can be controlled in a closed loop feedback system to switch between two points within the actuation range of the mirror (+/-5 degrees on each axis) within 5ms or less.

    Mike McCormick

  • According to your website, "TI Analog Mirrors are relatively large, single-element reflectors ranging from about 1-5 mm in diameter." Have any 5 mm diameter mirror been fabricated? Could they be custom order?

  • Stephanie,

Unfortunately, the largest pointing mirror we are offering at this time is the TALP1000B, and we are not currently taking custom orders for larger pointing mirrors.

  • Hi,

are there any new pointing mirrors with larger diameters? Or is TALP1000B still the biggest one?

    Regards,

  • Hello Tobias -

Thank you for the question.   At present, we are not in development of any new pointing mirrors.

Please feel free to contact me should you have any questions.

  • Hello.

The TALP1000B has NRND status. Does TI offer any alternative products (with large/fast scanners).

We used the TALP1000B for 2-Photon Imaging.

    Regards,

    Daniel Kirsten

  • Hello Daniel -

At this time, TI still continues to manufacture the TALP1000B.  One of the reasons that we changed the status to NRND is to inform customers that we are not continuing to invest in new analog mirror product development.

For some customers, TI's DMD technology can be an alternative.

Please contact me should you want to discuss this.

    Best Regards,

    Steve
