DLPDLCR2000EVM: DLPDLCR2000EVM turns off when connected to either powered or unpowered BeagleBone Black

Part Number: DLPDLCR2000EVM

Hi Team,

The DLPDLCR2000EVM powers on with 5V 3A supply as stand alone and display, but as i connect it  to Beagle Bone Black which is either powered on or Off the EVM turns Off even though the 5V 3A power supply is stilled connected to EVM.

Anything missing from my side ?.

Regards,

Husnain Khan

  • Husnain,

Thanks for your interest in our DLP products.

The DLPDLCR2000EVM requires proper drivers on the BeagleBone Black to run. In particular, you need Debian Jessie 8.9, which has a cape overlay driver preloaded to the OS.

If you do not have the proper drivers on your system, the BeagleBone pinouts will not be configured to host the EVM as a cape. Regardless of whether the system is booted or not, the EVM will not come up in this case.

I recommend you check out this E2E thread for more information: e2e.ti.com/.../615806

    I hope this helps.

  • Thanks Philippe.

I could bring up the test video on evm.But I have to connect the evm partially to BBB  and partially mean the cape pins towads the projector side are not inserted into the BBB(doesn't make contact) but those at the other end are inserted(do make contact) and it loads fine , but as soon as I insert the cape pins towards the projector side the evm lose power and also tried with a differenr BBB but the same thing.

Not exactly sure about the behavior of the evm but still can proceed with the evm and trying to play arnd with the py scripts.

    Thanks again.

  • Husnain,

Have you tried probing the pinouts of your system? Using a jumper wire you can individually probe the connections and see which pin is causing this issue.

If you are able to do this, let me know which pins are causing the display to fail when "shorted".
