Is it possible to obtain the LightCrafter 4500 without the optics and can the DMD phase modulate the propagating input light?
If so how can the phase input should be produced?
We want to construct a system with light source and DMD without any optics.
Dear Ian,
EKB Offers E4500 MKII platform with naked DMD/IR DMD installed on board which enables users a direct access to the DMD around their own development setup environment.
Yes the DMD can phase modulate the input light.
The DMD is primarily designed for amplitude modulation but it can also operate as a dynamic binary phase mask.
We offer design and calculation services of phase masks and as part we can produce the phase mask structure to reshape the input beam using the DMD depending on your requirements and needed output figure.
It is definitely possible to create a paired light source with DMD as a stand alone system without any additional optics, this however should be done per case basis since there are many parameters and limitations that should be considered such as the input source type, resolution, wavelength, spatial frequency of the desired output signal, the beam divergence, uniformity, zero order, SNR, conversion efficiency, etc…
I am adding an example of an output signal produced by a 532nm DPSS laser paired with naked stand alone DMD where the DMD is used for reshaping the input Gaussian beam to a TI and EKB light structure by means of diffraction.
