DLPC4422: 240Hz Frame Rate with lower resolution

It mentioned that the frame rate of an old DLPC is due to the 150MHz so 60Hz with 1920*1080. 

It further mentioned that in order to achieve higher frame rate with that controller, the reduction of input resolution would help.

So with the current DLPC4422 300MHz and working 120Hz with 4k. Is it possible to lower the resolution to 1920*1080 to achieve 240Hz?

I am desperate in finding a solution to make a DLP 240Hz projector with 720p or 1080i and full color (not 8bit for sure)

    Hello Adrian,

    Unfortunately, the maximum frame rate supported by the DLPC4422 is 120Hz for a 1920x1080 resolution.

    So it seems to be that the whole TI is not capable of making a projector with 240Hz with any decent resolution and colour?

    Hi, Adrian.  TI has a dedicated technology development team to continuously works on new concepts for delivering higher performance - whether that is speed, color, brightness, resolution, etc.  We will add your use case to the market feedback we evaluate to make road map decisions.

    Another direction to consider, if speed is the main objective, is to check out our industrial chip sets which offer high speed controllers.  Keep in mind these controllers do not incorporate any of the video processing algorithms that the display chipsets provide.   You can see these products here:

    If you are looking for 1080p, then the DLP6500FYE with the DLPC900 controller might be interesting for you.
