DLP2000: DLP mirror angle variation

From the DLP2000 datasheet I see something mentioned like: "Micromirror Tilt - half angle, variation device to device, NOM 12 degrees":

Does that mean that the total mirror angle variation is around 24 degrees between on and off state?

Hi Richard,
Thank you for your interest in DLP technology. The micro-mirrors in DLP2000 DMD tilt 12 degree from flat state to ON state and similarly tilt 12 degree in other direction for OFF state. The total angle between ON and OFF state is 24 degree.

Do you think if it is feasible to use the DLP devices for:

On-state: Cast image to a wall
Off-state: Receive image from wall via a camera

Hi Richard,
It is a very interesting idea. It will depend on the pixel architecture. You may be able to implement in the TRP pixel devices like DLP2010, DLP3010 etc

In case of TRP architecture light from the image on wall is reflected to a physically separate location/path where you can place camera. In case of other pixel architecture used in DLP2000, the light path is back to illumination.

Hi Richard,

The "DLP TRP pixel " is 5.4um pixel pitch node/technology. All DLP devices with 5.4 um pixel pitch are based on this architecture.

Please also read the page 3 of the application note on "Optical Engine Reference Design for DLP3010 Digital Micromirror Device". It will also explain the pupil location for various DMD state.
