Rapid modulation of laser

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DLP7000

Hello.  I am working on the modulation of laser signals.  The laser signals will be 0 and 1 modulated by codes. The modulation speed should be above 1 MHz. Now I am investigating the DLP products as I hope the modulation is executed by reflective mirrors.  But the speed of DLP 4100 is only 22kHz. I am wondering if the speed can be greatly improved as I don't need that amount of pixels and I have only one laser beam. Is there any product of DLP with only one pixel which has the area of 2*2 mm^2?

  • Hello User,

We regret to inform you that there are no such DMD's The DLP7000 currently has the fastest update rate of any DMD and even if you were to use only one "Reset Block" - 48 rows, the time would be limited by mechanical settling time of the mirrors, which is about 11 - 13 µs + ~2 µs of loading time. That is about 13 - 15 ↨s for one block. That comes out to about 77 - 67 kHz.
