DLP4500: How to send 1 bit patterns to the DLP4500 DMD

Hi,

I want to use the DLP4500 to display patterns from an external source at very fast rates. In the user's guide i read, that for 1-bit pictures it is possible to display them at 2880 Hz. Currently i am using a HDMI cable to conect to the DLP4500 and use it as a second screen but this is restricted to 8-bit and therefore a maximum frame rate of 120 Hz. Is it it possible to use the DLP4500 as a second screen but display only 1-bit pictures? If not, what would be the easiest way to connect to the device and display 1-bit patterns from an external source? Maybe via FPD-Link?

Paul,

Keep in mind that, when using a 120 Hz HDMI input, you are sending out 24 bits of RGB data, with 8 bits per color. If you use each of these bits for a different pattern, your effective pattern rate is actually 120 Hz * 24 bits = 2880 Hz.

In this case, you just need to format your data properly to make use of all 24 HDMI bits.
