DLPDLCR3010EVM-G2: The board died after we connected 19V as stated in the manual.

Part Number: DLPDLCR3010EVM-G2
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DLP3010, DLP3010EVM-LC

The board died after we connected 19V as stated in the manual.

  • Hello Max,

Could you please elaborate a little bit more on the failure mode?

    • Did any lights turn on when plugging in the 19V adapter?
    • What happened when you flipped the switch?
    • Did the EVM ever work? Or is this the first time you are using it?
    • Can you confirm the 19V adapter is properly outputting 19V using a multimeter?
    • Can you confirm you have the DLPDLCR3010EVM-G2 instead of Gen 1?
    • Are there any visible damage marks?

    Thanks,

    Kyle

  • Hello Kyle,

Enclosed I describe the error in more detail.

Did any lights turn on when plugging in the 19V adapter?

No, only some LEDs did blink and then turned off

What happened when you flipped the switch?

    Nothing, it died pretty fast

Did the EVM ever work? Or is this the first time you are using it?

It never worked, this was our first try

Can you confirm the 19V adapter is properly outputting 19V using a multimeter?

    Yes.

Can you confirm you have the DLPDLCR3010EVM-G2 instead of Gen 1?

I dont know. Please look in the appendix.

Are there any visible damage marks?

Some pins were bended already when it arrived. I have a photo attached.

    Thanks,

    Max

  • Hello Max,

Thank you for uploading the picture. Unfortunately it looks like you have the DLP3010 gen 1. This unit takes a 5V supply instead of a 19V supply. You could try using a 5V supply; however, it is likely the electronics have already been broken due to the 19V.

    Thanks,
    Kyle
  • Hello Kyle,

Yes we also tried to connect it to 5 V afterwards, but its definitely broken.

Therefore we would like to exchange the projector. We would like to return the DLP3010 gen 1. We need the DLP3010EVM-LC for our application.

    Thanks,
    Max

  • Hi Max,

Sorry to hear it doesn't work. I'm assuming you thought you purchased the DLP3010EVM-LC and accidentally purchased the gen 1 display version instead. Let me know if that is correct.

    Thanks,
    Kyle
  • Hi Kyle,

yes, but we still want to return this.

    Thanks,
    Max
  • Hello Max,

Thanks for the info. I believe one of my colleagues is following up with you offline about a replacement. Please let me know if you have any additional questions.

    Thanks,
    Kyle
