Lens optics in optical engine

Looking at the DLP3010EVM-LC DLP 3010 Light Control, is there any way the lens system could be adjusted? I'm in need of a larger f/# for a greater depth of field. Is this something available upon request? If not, where should I look to design a lens system which includes an aperture.

Hello Jacob,

I would recommend reaching out to one of our optical engine manufacturer's with an available engine that suits your needs. Depending on the engine you may be able to integrate it with the rest of the EVM for control functionality (if it doesn't have the same flex cable and LED cables as the EVM light engine you would need to make some modifications). I found a lens diagram for a typical DLP 3010 DMD system. We will likely have to design our own optical engine for this setup because none of the optical engines match our requirements. What type of modifications would need to be made for the flex and LED cables, or more specifically, what cables should the system be designed to?

Hello Jacob,

If you design your own optical engine you don't necessarily need a new flex cable. You could reuse the same design. Our general guidelines are available at www.ti.com/.../dlpa071.pdf and the DLP3010 datasheet has additional information.
