Hello,

I intend to purchase a DLPLightCrafter 4500 for my integrated Fringe projection application. Is it possible to load the patterns and program a sequence such that, later it can function directly when the power suppply is turned on ? Or is it required to have a USB connection to the GUI always?

Hello Nikhil,

I believe you would be able to add a custom .ini (initialization file) to the firmware to boot into the desired pattern sequence mode. It is generally preferable to have communication with a PC or other front end over USB/I2C for monitoring and full control though.

Thank you so much Kyle, but in the case of my application,we will not have a PC or laptop at the workbench most probably, but the Lightcrafter should still work on powering up, with the method you suggested right ?

Hi Nikhil,

Any microcontroller equipped with an I2c port can send commands and set the pattern sequence up on the LCR4500. Is it possible to attach another microcontroller through I2C port for your application?

Hello Hirak,

Unfortunately the PLC does not support I2C communication, and we are not using any microcontroller integration, just trying to have a pre programmed pattern,without a need for real time monitorying etc.

Hello Nikhil,

Assuming you can initially program the Lightcrafter 4500 with a PC you will be able to program a .ini file to run a series of commands on bootup. This .ini file can be added to the flash to always run on powerup. I still recommend testing to confirm it will do everything you want without PC control. However, I believe it should work for you.
