DLPDLCR2000EVM: i2cset command not working

Part Number: DLPDLCR2000EVM

I have the EVM plugged into and stacked on top of the Beaglebone Black (BBB). The BBB is plugged into my MacBook Pro (MacOS Ver. 10.14.1) using a the provided USB cable. I am also independently powering the EVM using a 5V 3A power supply.

I am able to get through steps 1-9 of this tutorial,https://e2e.ti.com/support/dlp/f/94/t/621466. When I type the i2cset commands into the terminal (I connect to the BBB via SSH) I get, "Error: Write Failed."

I can't figure out what I'm doing wrong. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

  • Hi David,

The quick start guide is primarily targeted at Windows users. The issue you're facing could be related to some incompatibility with Mac. Can you confirm that you're able to successfully connect to the BBB?

Philippe, who wrote the guide, will be able to support you better. But he may be out for the holidays, so expect a delayed response from our side.

  • David,

Which installation of Debian are you using? Can you share the commands you are sending over terminal?

In addition to this, you can also verify to see whether the cape overlay associated with the DLPDLCR2000EVM cape is properly installed to your BBB. The adafruit tutorial linked in the following thread can help with this process:

I hope this helps. Please follow up at the earliest convenience.
