DLPNIRNANOEVM: 4 light module modification problems 2

Part Number: DLPNIRNANOEVM

Hi,

I recently opened another topic about the DLP NIRSCANNano. A link to the thread can be found here

https://e2e.ti.com/support/dlp/f/94/p/755796/2798235#2798235

We changed the resistor values to the suggested ones. When we started a new scan however, still no lights are working. We than made some measurements. The voltage V9 on the entrance of the opamp is 2.9V as we would expect. There is also a current going through the lamps but this is only 10mA. So something is still limiting.

We though that the opamp itself could possibly be damaged so we replaced it for a new one. Still no success. Do we overlook something?

Kind regards

Ben Teugels

  • Ben,

Thanks for your detailed input. Did you confirm that your system was working OK before modifications were made to the light module? You should probably start off with a more detailed list of all the affected nodes you can measure so we can compare against a working system.

  • Hi

Is there a possibility to buy a new NIRSCANNANO unit, with all the modifications for the 4 light module pre made by TI?

    Regards

    Ben

  • Hi Ben,
You may want to explore one more potential reason - is USB port able to provide the current? The total current load for 4 lamps is 500 mA which is already on the upper limit of USB 2. Assuming there is loss , you may have already exceed the USB 2 limit. Some USB 3 port may deliver higher current to USB 2 but it depends on the machine.

The alternate is to run by battery. Please refer to the user guide www.ti.com/.../dlpu030g.pdf . Use the supported battery and connector.
    Hope this resolves the problem.

TI does not sell modified system. You have make changes your self.

    regards,
    Vivek
