DLP3010EVM-LC: DLP3010: Monochromatic / binary modes?

Part Number: DLP3010EVM-LC
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DLP3010, , DLPA2005

Hello,

Our group is considering the DLP3010 for a structured light project.

We need the ability to operate the projector in a monochromatic mode where the three color LEDs are on at the same time, rather than being sequenced.

I downloaded the Light Control EVM software and see that it supports having one color (R, G, or B) on at a time, but what about all three? Does the LED driver support such a mode?

I see that the module supports a binary mode? Does this mode park the DMD mirrors (keep them static), or does it scan through the array? Ideally I would like the DMD mirrors to remain in a static pattern for periods of time.

I also see that the EVM software supports scripting, is there a detailed guide on scripting for this DLP module?

Does TI offer any academic pricing for this EVM?

Thank you for your support.

  • Hi Joseph,

Welcome to E2E and thank you for your interest in DLP technology.

The DLP3010EVM-LC uses the DLPA2005 PMIC *** LED driver which can only drive one LED at a time. So this EVM doesn't support having all LEDs on simultaneously.

By binary mode are you referring to 1-bit pattern mode? Please note that the DMD mirrors are not held static under any circumstances while powered on as this would affect the lifetime of the DMD.

Regarding the Python scripting feature of the GUI, please refer to the Scripting Reference section under the Help menu.

Please contact TI customer support with respect to pricing.

    Hope this helps.

    Regards
    Azad
