DLPDLCR2000EVM: Can I use this board connect with DLP2000 chip?

Part Number: DLPDLCR2000EVM
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DLP2000, DLPC2607

Hi, I want to use the DLP2000 generate a small, complex illumination pattern. We have already have light source, lens, filters and so on. The only thing we need is to control DLP2000. So I want to use this DLPDLCR2000EVM to control the DLP2000. Do you think it is possible that I do not connect the optical engine, and I just connect the DLP2000 as a replacement?  If so, I can use the DLPDLCR2000EVM to control the DLP2000 directly, which is simple for us. Thank you.

  • Hello Jinyong,

As long as you use the same flex cable from the DLPDLCR2000EVM PCB to the DLP20000 DMD this should be possible. Are you planning on using the same LED signals that come from the DLPDLCR2000EVM board to drive your light source? It is important to have the LEDs properly synchronized with the DMD. It is also important to make sure the LED characteristics are equivalent to be able to drive them properly.

    Thanks,
    Kyle
  • Hi Kyle,

Thank you for your reply. The flex cable is too short for us, so I want to make a new flex cable with the same connector, same connection but longer cable. If I change the length of the cable, how long would you suggest the maximum?

We do not use your chip to control LED, the illumination is one color, so we made a stable and always light. And the light is collimate as well, to make the edge of illumination clearly. Thank you for reminding me the LED things.

    Thanks.

  • Hello Jinyong,

You can see the maximum signal lengths in the DLPC2607 controller datasheet (the controller for the DLP2000 DMD). You may not be able to make the flex cable much longer than it currently is.

    Thanks,

    Kyle
