Dear,

we are combining a DLP2000 lightcrafter develpoment board with a beaglebone black wireless (BBBW) . While we can run the DLP projector, after a while the beaglebone shuts off, and refuses the startup.

When powering the beaglebone, the power led flashes once. According to the BBBW manual, this indicates something on the board is drawing too much current (a short ?)

Even after we disconnect the lightcrafter, the beaglebone remains broken and refuses to boot. This happened to two beaglebones.

Did anyone else encounter the same problem ?

Do you have any suggestion on how we can prevent the lightcrafter from blowing fuses?

Hello Tom,

Are you powering both the DLPDLCR2000EVM and the BBBW with an external power supply? I have not heard of this happening before. Please let me know about how things are being powered and we can look into it.

Hi Kyle,
In one case we were powering the the beaglebone using USB (from PC), while the lightcrafter was powered with 5V -1A external power supply.
In the second case, the bbbw was powered with 5V-1A and the lightcrafter was powered from the beaglebone using jumper wires.

Maybe it is just is safer to power both devices separately?

Hi Tom,

If you take a look at the DLPDLCR2000EVM user's guide (www.ti.com/.../dlpu049c.pdf) we actually recommend at 5V 3A supply. I personally haven't had trouble powering the DLPDLCR2000EVM with an external supply while powering the beagle via USB. However, you may try switching both to external power to be safe.

Your method of powering the Lightcrafter via the Beaglebone may cause over current issues.
