DLPLCR4500EVM: Pin occupancy of the Lightrafter 4500 EVM

Hello there,

at the moment i try to figure out what pin does what on the flex cable the lightcrafter comes with. There are 2 pins broken away and i can't find anything in the datasheet of the lightcrafter. In the datasheet of the DMD (http://www.ti.com/lit/ds/symlink/dlp4500.pdf) itself there are (on page 5) connections described but not the one present on the outside of the flex cable connector (please see pictures).

So what are those pins usually connected to and are they critcial to operate the connected dmd ?

Hi Philipp,

The standard flex cable has 40 pins on each side for signals and DMD voltages. There are two pins on each end, separated slightly from the others, that should be grounds. It looks like your connector has been mechanically traumatized but if some of the grounds are still intact it will probably continue to work.

Philipp,

Please note it is not recommended to operate the DMD with faulty connections, as you could damage the part. Ill inquire about which pins these are.

Hi Hirak,
well i'm still waiting for the answer from Philippe Dolo. He wrote he would try to find out which pins these are but didn't answer since then (Or did i understand this wrong?).

Hi Philipp,

Here P1 and M40 both pins are GROUND. Since there are other grounds on the cable, you MAY try to use the faulty cable if you want, but TI assumes no responsibility for any consequent damages.
